ADMINISTRATIVE ORGANIZATION

The Escuela is governed by a Board of Directors which determines institutional policy. The Board is comprised of seven members representing the public interest, and educational and cultural sectors, and is appointed by the Board of Directors of Institute of Puerto Rican Culture. The Escuela has Chancellor, a Planning and Development Office and the Office of the Dean of Academic and Student Affairs, and the Office of the Dean of Administration.

The Chancellor, appointed by the Board of Directors, is responsible for the execution of institutional and academic policy. He or she is the official that represents the Board and is a liaison with the Escuela. The Chancellor calls and presides over Faculty meetings. The Planning and Development Office coordinates all institutional efforts and directs initiatives of the three deans' offices. The Office is responsible for analyzing academic and fiscal operations and advancing strategies for structured growth and development of the School.


The Office of the Dean of Academic and Student Affairs coordinates academic activities, and supervises the department heads and the director of the Learning Resources Center and the Extension Program and is also responsible for developing, coordinating, and supervising the programs and services for the students at the Escuela. The Offices provides services directed at personal and professional growth which complement their academic and are oriented to their holistic development. Among the most important responsibilities of the Office is to foster the development and review of academic programs, as well as innovations and improvement in the quality of teaching.

The Escuela de Artes Plásticas channels its administrative activity through the Office of the Dean of Administrative Affairs, whose Dean coordinates and supervises the budget, financial, personnel, accounting, disbursement, purchasing, maintenance, and buildings and grounds security functions. Records maintained by this Office must comply with the requirements of the Office of the Comptroller of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the auditing bodies that monitor the financial operations of the Institution. The budgetary phase is managed according to the requirements of the Office of Budget and Management of the Government of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
