Student Council
The Student Council at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas plays a very important role in institutional life, channeling student requests for improving the quality of college life and encouraging them to fulfill their obligations and maintain institutional order. The Student Council organizes the Annual Student Exhibition and coordinates student involvement in civic and cultural activities.
The Office of the Dean of Academic and Student Affairs encourages participation in and organization of student groups. All groups must request formal recognition from the Office of the Dean of Academic and Student Affairs.
Counseling and Advisory Program
The Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico offers personal counseling and academic orientation services to all students. These services help students to adjust to university life, achieve academic success, and prepare for a full, useful, and socially productive life after graduation. A prevention plan is implemented through the services to encourage healthy life styles.
The Counseling and Orientation Office provides individual and group interviews, workshops, seminars, lectures, referrals to other professionals, and other services for the benefit of our students. The Office administers and interprets personal, vocational, and educational interest tests and inventories, and also maintains up-to-date information on other college level institutions in Puerto Rico and abroad. After the student has stated his or her concentration, the faculty offers academic counseling.
Center for Career and Life Planning
The objective of the Center for Career and Life Planning (CPVC in Spanish) is to develop the skills that are necessary for finding employment and sources of income during and after the student's college life. To fulfill this objective the center offers an extensive variety of services and programs for students and alumni. The CPVC maintains a data base to support its services and programs, which includes colleges and universities all over the world, corporations, professional workshops, agencies and other sources of employment and professional development for artists, designers, and art educators.
Employment and Professional Development
• Refers students and alumni to employment offers,
temporary work, and/or summer employment.
• Offers employment opportunities at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas.
• Helps to prepare résumés, proposals, letters of introduction, and interview techniques.
• Coordinates business development and marketing workshops, how to organize an exhibition, document work, and preparation and presentation of portfolios.
• Provides counseling on career goals.
• Helps students and alumni fill out applications for scholarships
and grants.
• Provides information on graduate study and assistance in the application
process.
• It organizes employment fairs.
Student Exchange
• Offers the opportunity to study a semester at colleges in the United States with which the Escuela has agreements.
Internships
• Coordinates the internship program in
the various areas of specialization, under faculty supervision.
Study Travel
• Offers information on opportunities to
study abroad.
Quality of Life Center for Students
The Quality of Life Center for Students is a program of the Office of the Dean of Academic and Student Affairs. The fundamental objective of the Center is to promote healthy life styles through the development of activities that will encourage analysis and reflection on issues in our society and the explore new alternatives. The Quality of Life Center for Students offers the following services:
• organization and development of student groups
• involvement with other chapters of university student organizations
• workshops, lectures and chats
• group training
• special workshops and work commissions
• referrals to psychological help
• Support and coordination for the reasonable accommodation program
• referrals to other services and community services
• health fairs
VETERANS AND OTHER BENEFICIARIES FROM FEDERAL PROGRAMS
Veteran students or beneficiaries of Veteran Administration Programs will receive benefits if they complete their study programs at the regular time stipulated in the catalog. In case they exceed they loose eligibility for these benefits under Title 38. However they can be eligible for financial aid under Title IV, (Pell Grants and others) if they maintain the corresponding requisites.
